ER CELEBRATES 60TH RLY WEEK AND 160 YEARS OF RLYS IN EASTERN INDIA

    HOWRAH DIVISION BAGGED THIS YEAR’S OVERALL EFFICIENCY SHIELD

     

    Kolkata : 160 years of Railways in Eastern India and 60th Railway Week was celebrated by Eastern Railway with a number of programmes throughout the week from 10th to 16th April, 2015. A week-long cultural festival includes Photo Exhibitions, Philatelic Exhibition, Heritage Run, Inter-School Competitions etc. On 16th April, 2015, the award distribution ceremony was held at Dr. B. C. Roy Auditorium, Sealdah, Kolkata.

    General Manager, Eastern Railway Shri R. K. Gupta honoured the selected band of Railway staff and officers for their dedicated and outstanding services to the Railways with efficiency shields, badges and cash awards.

     

    On the basis of overall performance, Howrah Division has been awarded this year’s overall efficiency shield and the efficiency Runners-up cup bagged by Sealdah Division. Cleanliness drive shield was also bagged by Sealdah Division. Besides the above prestigious shields and cups, as many as 32 shields and cups were presented by Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager & Shri B. K. Patel, Additional General Manager of Eastern Railway.

    Smt. Veena Gupta, President, Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organization (ERWWO) graced the occasion and gave away the awards also.

    Addressing a large number of staff & officers, Shri R. K. Gupta, General Manager said that the performance of Eastern Railway is commendable and particularly the punctuality in train running, safety, security and cleanliness wherein Eastern Railway has performed very well. He appreciated the cooperation of all staff and officers for achieving the target in carrying 67.247 million tonnes of freight and 115.60 crores of passengers during the financial year 2014-15. He urged upon the Eastern Railway workforce to come up to the expectations and accept the new challenges in offering still better passenger amenities and maintaining a better punctuality and keeping the platform and Railway premises clean.

    This year, Eastern Railway has received Comprehensive Health Care Shield at recently concluded Indian Railways Central Function at Guwahati.

    A total of 110 employees including 88 staff and 22 officers were honoured for their outstanding performance. 14 Group Awards were given besides 32 shields and cups for various outstanding performances.
